Celebrating Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy
The mood was jovial last Thursday as the Greenway Conservancy celebrated the 104th birthday of the woman for whom the Greenway is named, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. Over 500 people came out to celebrate with a mobile party in the Parks.
Children and adults alike made paper flowers in honor of Mrs. Kennedy, adding them to Rose’s Rolling Garden, a float inspired by Peter Reynold’s book Rose’s Garden.
The Garden rolled to various locations along the Greenway District, including the Boston Children’s Museum, the New England Aquarium, and the North End Parks.
Celebrants in the North End enjoyed free cupcakes from Mike’s Pastry while they played lawn games. Later in the afternoon, Author Peter Reynolds read Rose’s Garden as families stopped to marvel at the 8-foot replica of Rose’s Teapot, also inspired by his book.
