Year of the Dragon – Opening Ceremony

On February 18, 2024, The Greenway will celebrate the opening of artist Ponnapa Prakkamakul’s new 2024 artwork, Year of the Dragon, in Chin Park. The hour-long celebration will include a dragon dance performance by Wah Lum Academy to welcome the sculpture to the park, in addition to short remarks from the artist and the Greenway Conservancy curatorial team, followed by light snacks and refreshments. This ceremony will complement a number of other Chinatown-based celebrations and performances held that day to honor and ring in the Chinese New Year. In case of inclement weather, the rain date for this event will be February 25, 2024.
