Visual Design and Marketing Coordinator

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, the non-profit responsible for the management and care of The Greenway, is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual for a full-time position as Visual Design Coordinator. Working across the organization, this position plans, directs, and implements the Greenway Conservancy’s graphic design, print and signage production, website, and brand guidelines, as well as contributes to the Outreach Department’s overall strategy. Responsibilities

The Visual Design and Marketing Coordinator will work to maximize brand recognition and enforce visual standards for the Conservancy, increasing public outreach through the following: 

  • Graphic design 
    1. serve as the primary graphic designer for the organization, creating in-park signage, digital assets, and collateral materials for all program areas (public art, events, general park operations)
    2. collaborate cross-departmentally to strategically choose and creatively message the Conservancy’s work (public art, horticulture, fundraising, etc), utilizing new media, refreshing annual campaigns, and thinking innovatively about our brand assets including accessibility and inclusivity
    3. implement branding initiatives that prioritize inclusive design and messaging
    4. design developmental collateral for seasonal fundraising campaigns
    5. ensure brand consistency compliance in signage, apparel, document production, marketing/event promotion, and more
    6. stay up-to-date on design trends, strategically improving the organization’s brand identity 
    7. Design and produce digital/print collateral for the Conservancy’s programs, campaigns, and initiatives i.e. sub-brands, advertisements, social media, e-newsletter, in-park signage, booklets, brochures, stationery, mailing, etc. 
    8. Ensure brand consistency and strategy by advising staff, interns, and contractors on best practices on all forms of media, providing up-to-date templates, and reviewing/critiquing all design materials
    9. Manage multiple projects; work within design specifications and budget restrictions 
    10. Stay up to date on design trends to inform and improve the organization’s brand identity and assets
  •  Print production
    1. Research vendors and procure price quotes for printing and other services
    2. Execute production of assets at a sustained high volume by providing print-ready files for orders
    3. Manage vendor relationships and organize pick up/delivery options
  • Shared management of social media/online communities
    1. Generate graphics and content for email newsletters and social media needs
    2. Promote The Greenway online and support the Conservancy’s messaging by aggregating internal and external content and distributing it via social media outlets (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin Greenway website blog, and more) 
  • Digital asset management
    1. Manage the backend of Canto, the digital asset management system
    2. Train Conservancy staff on how to use Canto
    3. Provide creative direction to professional photographers, videographers, Conservancy staff, and stakeholders
    4. Train Conservancy staff on executing photography/videography contracts
  • Oversee Greenway Conservancy website
    1. Manage the backend of WordPress website
    2. Train necessary Conservancy staff on website editing 
    3. Provide creative direction for the Conservancy website and work with development contractors to execute revamps to templates
    4. File tickets to website contractors for maintenance and structural changes 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working/studying in a related field, including graphic design, environmental signage, marketing, etc. 
  • Superior demonstrated skill in:
    • Strong graphic design visual sense and ability to manage graphic components to support messaging 
    • Desktop publishing and print production, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva
    • Increasing brand awareness via social media outlets
    • Environmental signage design, production, and installation
    • Project management, tracking, and meeting a variety of deadlines
    • Written and oral communication (Bilingual skills a plus, especially in Chinese languages given our proximity to the Chinatown neighborhood).
  • Detail-oriented, creative, flexible, collaborative. 
  • Experience with photography and/or video production a plus.
  • Experience working in a diverse and inclusive organization is a plus.

Logistics

  • This is a full time (40 hours a week) non-exempt position with full benefits. 
  • Work hours are generally Monday through Friday with a hybrid schedule, but flexibility is required
  • Work will generally take place indoors, but the position will require some time in the park.
  • We encourage all incoming employees to be COVID-19 vaccinated.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The salary range $50,000-$58,000 per year
  • The Greenway Conservancy offers competitive benefits including:
