The Greenway ARTbeat Series
The Greenway ARTbeat series is a seasons-long initiative supported by the Greenway Business Improvement District (Greenway BID) to enhance and expand public art and public programming throughout the entirety of The Greenway.
The Greenway ARTbeat series features five stunning and thought-provoking pieces of public art that span the park as well as more than 50 free public programs. Gather on The Greenway and explore all there is to offer!

- October 3 – “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” (1982)
- October 10 – “Ghostbusters” (1984)
- October 17 – “Poltergeist” (1982)
- October 24 – “Beetlejuice” (1988) (in combination with Fall Fest – stay tuned for more details)
Public Art Installations
Five public art installations are part of The Greenway ARTbeat series. Events reflecting on the themes of each piece will take place throughout the year.
Year of the Dragon by Ponnapa Prakkamakul – a 20-foot long land bridge representing a dragon’s head, featuring play elements for children
Far Away, From Home by Zhidong Zhang – an image-based sculpture responding to the complexities of home, immigration, identity politics, diaspora, and queerness in visual cultures.
SONG/LAND/SEA: WAI Water Warning & Binakol Blessing by Lani Asunción – a public art installation and performance series that responds to the unequal impacts of climate change and global warming on Boston’s own coastline.
Going to Ground by LaRissa Rogers – a site-specific sculpture by artist LaRissa Rogers that responds to and engages with the history of Zipporah Potter Atkins. In 1670, Potter Atkins became the first-known Black woman to own a home in Boston.
your sprit whispering in my ear by Jeffrey Gibson – the 10th installation of The Greenway’s rotating mural program on Dewey Square.
