Narcissus and early Tulips Blooming

The early round of narcissus and tulips are blooming in the Fort Point Channel Parks. My very favorite Tulipa praestans ‘Shogun’ has started blooming under the maple allee, near the corner of Oliver and Purchase streets. This wonderful multi flowering wild tulip, opens in a range of sunset yellows and rich, but gentle oranges with distinct, purple anthers in the center.
Along with the early tulips the narcissus are opening in full groups now, coaxed along by the warmer days. Also on the Purchase Street side of this park you can see two groups – one with large, lemony flowers and another with popping orange centers and bright yellow petals.
